Safety precations

Keeping everyone safe

Health and safety are fundamental to our scaffolding operations and underpin every stage of our work, from initial planning through to erection, use, and dismantling. We operate robust management systems to ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and industry guidance.

Legislative Compliance

All works are carried out in accordance with, but not limited to:
  • Work at Height Regulations 2005
  • Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
  • Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999
  • BS EN 12811 – Temporary Works Equipment
  • NASC TG20:21 and SG4:22 guidance

Where required, bespoke scaffold designs are produced by competent designers and coordinated with the Principal Contractor and Temporary Works Coordinator.

Risk Assessment & Method Statements (RAMS)

Site-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) are prepared for every project prior to commencement. These documents identify hazards, define control measures, and detail safe systems of work tailored to the specific site conditions and scope.
RAMS are reviewed and briefed to all operatives via toolbox talks and site inductions, ensuring full understanding and compliance before works begin.

Competence, Training & Supervision

All operatives are trained, competent, and qualified for the work they undertake. This includes:
  • CISRS-certified scaffolders and supervisors
  • Ongoing training and skills refreshers
  • Site-specific inductions and task briefings
Supervision is provided throughout the duration of the works to ensure safe practices are maintained and any issues are addressed immediately.

Scaffold Inspection & Maintenance

All scaffolding is inspected:
  • After erection and before first use
  • At intervals not exceeding 7 days
  • Following adverse weather conditions or significant alteration
Inspections are carried out by competent persons and recorded in accordance with statutory requirements. Any defects identified are rectified promptly to maintain structural integrity and site safety.

Fall Prevention & Control Measures

We prioritise collective fall prevention wherever practicable. Our scaffolding systems incorporate:
  • Fully boarded working platforms
  • Guardrails and mid-rails
  • Toe boards and brick guards
  • Safe access via stair towers or ladder systems
Erection and dismantling activities follow SG4:22 methods to minimise risk to operatives working at height.

Site Safety & Public Protection

We implement strict controls to protect site operatives, other trades, and the public. Measures may include:
  • Debris netting and protective fans
  • Controlled access zones and signage
  • Hoarding and segregation of work areas

These controls are particularly important on live sites, public areas, and sensitive environments such as hospitals and occupied premises.

Continuous Monitoring & Improvement

Health and safety performance is continually monitored through:
  • Regular site audits and inspections
  • Toolbox talks and safety briefings
  • Incident reporting and near-miss analysis

We actively promote a proactive safety culture, encouraging all personnel to identify hazards and contribute to continuous improvement.
